Wimbledon Qualifying 2025: Players to Watch 🎾

The Wimbledon Qualifying 2025 rounds are set to offer exhilarating tennis action. Featuring a blend of Grand Slam champions, emerging talents, and seasoned players on comebacks, this event is not to be missed. The entry list, determined by the PIF WTA Rankings as of June 3, includes some intriguing names.

    Highlights and Key Players 🌟

    Bianca Andreescu’s Wimbledon Return

Most importantly, Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 US Open champion, is making her Wimbledon qualifying return for the first time since 2018. The former World No. 5, now ranked No. 99, has faced challenges due to injuries and illnesses. Her recent performance at Roland Garros saw her exit in the second round of qualifying. Andreescu is currently the third alternate for the main draw, pending any withdrawals.

    French Tennis Players Comeback

Because the French tennis players are making a strong comeback, their presence is highly anticipated.

    • Alizé Cornet: Returning from retirement, Cornet is back on the Grand Slam stage. The 35-year-old, who has twice defeated reigning World No. 1 players at Wimbledon, is utilizing a special ranking of No. 102. She is the fourth alternate for the main draw.

    • Caroline Garcia: Nearing the end of her career, Garcia announced her upcoming retirement before Roland Garros. Despite her retirement plans, she continues to compete at a high level.

    Rising Stars Wimbledon Qualifiers

Therefore, the rising stars in the Wimbledon qualifiers are poised to make a significant impact.

    • Lois Boisson: The French sensation made headlines at Roland Garros by defeating Jessica Pegula to reach the quarterfinals in her Grand Slam main-draw debut. Despite being ranked No. 361, she’s using a special ranking of No. 153 after recovering from an ACL injury.

    • Victoria Mboko: The Canadian teenager is making waves with a stellar 42-6 record in 2025, including a third-round appearance at Roland Garros as a qualifier. Mboko leads a group of promising young players, including Tereza Valentova, the 2024 Roland Garros junior champion, and junior No. 1 Emerson Jones, both making their senior Wimbledon debuts.

    Other Notable Participants 🏆

Besides that, the qualifying rounds feature seasoned competitors like Tamara Zidansek and Martina Trevisan, alongside Jule Niemeier, a 2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist. In doubles, reigning Wimbledon and Australian Open champion Taylor Townsend and 2022 Wimbledon doubles finalist Zhang Shuai add to the competitive field.

    Entry List Insights

Because the entry list is so competitive, Diane Parry tops it at No. 93, while Selena Janicijevic is the lowest-ranked direct entrant at No. 220. Notably, several players have opted out of qualifying, with some securing direct entry to the main draw. Seven players, including Cornet and Boisson, have entered using special rankings.

    Alternates and Special Rankings

In case of withdrawals, the first 20 alternates are ready to step in, including several players using special rankings. The list is topped by Stefanie Voegele, who is using a special ranking of No. 220.

In conclusion, with a mix of experience and youth, the Wimbledon qualifying rounds are set to deliver thrilling matches and potential upsets. Keep an eye on these players as they battle for a coveted spot in the main draw. For more updates on women’s tennis, visit the WTA’s official website. 🏅
