Sabalenka French Open 2025: Advances to Fourth Round

    French Open 2025 Highlights

    Dates: 25 May-8 June
    Venue: Roland Garros
Coverage: Live radio commentaries on 5 Live Sport and BBC Sounds, plus live text updates on the BBC Sport website and app

World number one Aryna Sabalenka delivered a commanding performance to secure her spot in the French Open fourth round, as she continues her quest for a first title in Paris. Her journey in the French Open 2025 has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing her determination and skill on the clay courts of Roland Garros.

    Early Dominance on Court

Most importantly, Sabalenka, a three-time major champion, established her dominance early. She won the first five games against Serbia’s Olga Danilovic. The 27-year-old sealed a 6-2, 6-3 victory on Court Philippe Chatrier, setting up a clash with American Amanda Anisimova. Her performance in this French Open fourth round highlights clearly demonstrates why she is a force to be reckoned with in women’s tennis major performances.

    Consistent Roland Garros Success

Because Sabalenka has consistently reached at least the quarter-finals in her last nine Grand Slam appearances, her success at Roland Garros is no surprise. She has conceded just 10 games in her first three matches in Paris. Now in her 40th consecutive week as the top-ranked women’s player, she credited her team for laying the groundwork for her ongoing success. To track her current standing, visit the WTA rankings.

“When I am on court, I am a completely different person—very focused, very aggressive. It’s about dreams, and I give my all,” she shared in her on-court interview. Besides that, she emphasized the importance of having a supportive team. “Off court, it’s crucial to have the right people around and enjoy time with them. I am really grateful for my team; we are like family.”

    Overcoming Past Challenges

Therefore, Sabalenka’s journey at the French Open is even more impressive considering her past challenges. Her run last year ended in the French Open quarter-finals against Russian teenager Mirra Andreeva. After reaching the semi-finals in 2023, this marked the first time she didn’t make it to the last four at a major since the 2022 US Open. This emphasizes her consistency and resilience over the years.

After finishing as runner-up to Madison Keys at the Australian Open in January, Sabalenka humorously blamed her team, saying, “As always, that’s your fault, guys. I don’t want to see you for the next week—I really hate you!” Despite the jest, her team, along with support from a psychologist and biomechanics expert, has been instrumental in her transformation from a player who led the WTA Tour with 428 double faults in 2022 to a title contender at every event.
